Vesper Orbit

Before Using Vesper Orbit be sure to read the Important Note on Risk, below.

Important: Although contracts are accessible to all, you should not send assets directly to any Vesper contract address. Instead, you should always use the Vesper App. This is because, as explained in Vesper's Modular Architecture, Vesper pools (and other contracts) are designed to be upgradeable at any time. Sending funds directly to a contract may result in a total loss of user funds.

In November, 2021, the Vesper DAO voted to endorse the creation of Vesper Orbit, a new category of Vesper pools intended to achieve higher yields by incorporating newer tokens and protocols into Vesper’s automated investment products.

Vesper Orbit Pools Use the Same Code as Other Vesper Pools

The pools and strategies employed by Vesper Orbit are developed following the same rigorous practices and policies that are used in the creation of all other Vesper products. However, because Vesper Orbit products are aimed at generating higher yield by dealing in new, less proven assets and protocols which typically offer much higher returns than their more established counterparts, they will be inherently more risky than products simply branded “Vesper.”

Universal Fee

The Universal Fee charges a 2% annual fee on the assets deposited (principal) at the time of rebalance. If this fee is greater than 50% of the yield earned, then the fee will only equate to 50% of the yield earned.

Vesper Orbit Rewards

In addition to the yield generated by the chosen strategy, Vesper Orbit participants may be rewarded with VSP, which they can claim at any time. In order to promote these new products, the first batch of Orbit pools are boosted with 1,250 VSP each. Additional VSP will be allocated based on contributions from represented token communities, and on each pool's performance. The documentation will be updated whenever new VSP is added to a pool's reward account.

Accessing Vesper Orbit Pools

The mechanism of Vesper Orbit pools is analogous Vesper Grow pools:

  • Access the Vesper Orbit pools at https://orbit.vesper.finance/

  • Choose a pool based on the asset you wish to deposit,

  • Make your deposit.

That’s all there is to it. Vesper's software allocates these funds to generate the best returns.

Available Vesper Orbit Pools

Because the family of Vesper pools is continuously growing and changing, for an accurate list of currently available pools you should consult the Vesper App.

"Graduating" from Orbit to the Main Vesper App

Vesper Orbit is an important part of the Vesper ecosystem by providing a platform for providing up-and-coming strategies and assets to Vesper users. With ongoing success and increasing TVL of those pools, they may "graduate" to the main Vesper app.

In other words, once the stability and safety of an Orbit pool have met the criteria used to select the currently supported tokens in Vesper Grow pools, that pool can “graduate” from Vesper Orbit to ("regular") Vesper. The underlying code does not change. This status change is used to signal the perceived safety of the pool. Think of it as being like the captain of a passenger airplane turning off the Fasten Seatbelt light to signal that it's safe to move about the cabin. The first example of this is with the DPI pool. This started on the Orbit platform, but "graduated" and is now available on app.vesper.finance.

Adding New Tokens to Vesper Orbit

The Vesper DAO votes on which tokens and protocols should be added to the suite of Vesper Orbit products. Before any formal vote is taken there is discussion among members of the Vesper community, primarily on the Vesper Discord channel. The Vesper project is predicated on a strong and involved community; we welcome new members and all suggestions offered in good faith.

An Important Note on Risk

Because Vesper Orbit products are aimed at generating higher yield by dealing in new, unproven assets and protocols which typically offer much higher returns than their more established counterparts, they will be inherently more risky than products simply branded “Vesper.” Vesper Orbit offers aggressive yield strategies for some of DeFi's newest projects. This means that, while the strategies Vesper Orbit utilizes are well-audited and tested in the market (they are the same strategies used in regular Vesper Grow pools), users assume additional risk given the early-stage nature of the tokens represented here. While Vesper Orbit pools are inherently riskier than other Vesper pools, including aggressive pools in Beta stage, they are still what would be considered "major" tokens overall.

Vesper Orbit is for experienced DeFi users. Use these pools at your own risk. If you are new to the world of DeFi, we strongly recommend that you start with regular Vesper pools before moving to Vesper Orbit.
